What is a Bail Bond?

Bail—also referred to a bail bond—is the amount you must pay and the promises you must make to be released from jail until your criminal case is resolved. Within 48 hours of your arrest, you will be brought before a magistrate who will set the amount of your bail and any other conditions for your release. Keep in mind there are exceptions to this procedure, particularly for charges involving murder or domestic violence. If possible, you want an experienced criminal defense attorney to attend this hearing with you as this could result in bail being set at a lower amount.

4 Step Bonding Process

The defendant will appear before a Magistrate, who will set the bail amount in accordance with the defendant’s current and previous charges. Many jails have standard bail amounts for certain charges to expedite the bail release process.

An 828 Bail Bondsman will complete all the required bonding paperwork, comply with all bail rules and regulations, and we will post a bail bond with the court on behalf of the defendant to secure his/her release from jail. The bonding process at the jail generally takes anywhere from 30 minutes all the way up to a couple hours. Don't worry though, we will be there with you through the entire process.
